Text Box: Text Box: Pierre Hernandez Coaching Biography Text Box: Profile In each of the 3 years as Head Coach, there has been a track and field athlete to earn a scholarship to an NCAA Division 1 University. In the 2nd year took on the responsibilities of hosting the Rio Hondo League Finals and will now be the long-term venue. Looking to host an invitational in my 4th year as Head Coach. Named Back to back Boys Track and Field Coach of the Year by the Pasadena Star News (2008-2009). Experience South Pasadena High School Track and Field 2009 3rd year Head Coach. Guided the boys team to a Rio Hondo League Championship for the 2nd year in year in a row and to a CIF 3rd place finish in Southern Section Division 3. In dual meets the boys have been undefeated for two years in a row. The boys team broke 5 school records. In the Rio Hondo League Finals the boys won 1st place in 14 out of the 16 events competed. The CIF Southern Section Finalists consisted of a 4x400m relay team, a distance runner, two hurdlers, two long jumpers, and one 400m runner. The distance runner and the 110m hurdler went on to compete in the State Finals who were champions at CIF Finals. The girls team finished second in the Rio Hondo League and lost their 1st dual meet in four years. The girls had a triple jumper compete in CIF Finals. Named Pasadena Star News Boys Track and Field Coach of the Year for the 2nd time. 2008 In the 2nd year as Head Coach the boys won a League Title for the 1st time in two years. The boys team had four events in CIF Southern Section Division 3 that they competed in; a 4x400m relay team, one hurdler, one long jumper, and distance runner. The boys broke 3 school records that year. The girls garnered their 4th league championship in a row and a three year streak of being undefeated in league. The girls team broke 3 school records. The lone representative for the girls in CIF Finals was a girl distance runner. Named the Boys Track and Field Coach of the Year by the Pasadena Star News. 2007 1st year as Head Coach for the Track and Field program at South Pasadena High School. Helped guide the girls to a Rio Hondo League Team Title for the 3rd year in a row. The girls broke 4 school records and in the Rio Hondo League Finals the girls won 1st place in all of the track events. The girls team was undefeated in league dual meets for the 2nd year in a row. One sprinter for the girls ran in CIF Southern Section Finals in the 100m and 200m. The boys were 2nd in the Rio Hondo League and guided a few league champions to CIF Preliminaries.
