Run With Us Elite Team

Run With Us believes that part of providing the best specialty running service to the community is supporting the local elite runners who otherwise receive very little post-collegiate assistance. With this in mind, the Run With Us Elite Team was created, consisting of runners from all over LA who have dedicated most of their lives to training and competition in the areas of Cross Country, Track, and Road Racing. Look for them leading the local races in their Run With Us singlets!

The Elite Team has a 5k standard of 18:15 and 15:15 for the women and men respectively (equivalent standards may be considered).  If you are interested in applying for a Run With Us Elite Team membership, please contact Mark Batres at 626.568.3331.

    Bio: Alex was an All-American in Cross-Country and Track Field and 2 time SCIAC Champion. Alex currently holds Oxy's 3000 meter steeplechase record. He will graduate from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles in the Spring of 2011.

    Adrian Broca is living a very compelling story.His quest is to become one of the world's best blind marathoners. Adrian is a 31-year-old immigrant from Mexico who carries a 3.7 GPA at Cal State Los Angeles in Business and Finance. He is also one of only two blind American runners who have broken the 3- hour marathon mark in the past year. He will qualify for the World Paralympics/USOC Games, once he runs a two-hour and fifty-six minute race, which is four minutes off his best time.

    Bio: Rabelo was part of the 2002 ELAC Cross Country State Championship.  He also placed 2nd overall in the 2003 Cross Country State Championships, and was 2003 South Coast Conference Cross Country Champion. He was the 1500m  California Community College State Champion in 2003-2004 and 5000m State Champion for in 2003. In Cal Poly Pomona he made the the 2006 CCAA All-Conference and was named Newcomer of the Year.

    Bio: Claudia is originally from Mexico City and graduated being on Cal Poly Pomona's All-Time Top 10 in 3 events. She also broke the 6K Cal Poly Pomona cross country record, placed 11th at the 2008 Track & Field NCAA Div II Championships in the 10k, and recieved the 2007-2008 California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic award.

    Another great race for Jacques Sallberg, taking first place at Village Runner 5K in 14:50. Second Place was El Camino College distance star David Cardona mark of 15:02.8. Justin Patananan, of Palmdale, placed third at 15:29.0.  

    Danila Alonso finished first for the women's event followed by Karla Alburez in 16:38 and 17:19, respectively.

    sierra madre trail race2010 Mount Wilson Trail Race

    24-year old Kevin Chaves of Pasadena won the Mount Wilson Trail Race yesterday in what is considered to be an unofficial record time of 58:50. Because the trail course changes due to erosion and wear, no official records are kept, but long time Trail Race watcher Bud Switzer tells us that he doesn't recall anyone running the current course under 59 minutes before.     Dora Peres, 23 of Oxnard, wins the Crescenta Canada Family YMCA 35th Annual Fiesta Days Run 10K run at Descanso Gardens in La Canada Flintridge. In the winner for the 5K was Rosario Castaneda in 18:12 both now running for Run With Us, Congrats!

    2010 LA Marathon Los Angeles USA Track & Field Mark Batres Men's Champion

    On Sunday March 21, 2010, Mark Batres, Elite Run With Us Member, won the USA Track & Field Southern California Association Marathon Championship Title. Batres' finishing time of 2:28:37 also placed him in the top 25 runners to cross the finish line in a competitive race with top international runners.

    25th Annual Carlsbad- The Worlds Fastest 5K

    Elite Run With Us Team travel to Carlsbad this weekend and run in one of the most competitive 5K in the World. Kevin Chaves, Alex Ramon and Torrey Olson participated in the event. In the 29 and under event, Kevin won the race at a 14:45. Alex took 5th place at 15:15 and Torrey finished in 22nd at 15:59. View Overall Results here.

    2010 Pasadena Marathon & 5K

    Elite runners take top 5 spot in the 5K race finishing within a two second gap. Jacques Sallberg won the race at 15:45 followed by Mark Batres at 15:46 and Torrey Olson, Kevin Chaves, Alex Ramon finished together at 15:47. Finishing in top 10 in the Half Marathon was Danny Martinez at 1:17:52 and Victor Rios at 1:19:36. Adrian Aguilar finishing time was 1:2139, and two places behind Armand Crespo at 1:21:51and Nick Lopez also participated in the Half Marathon. For complete results click here

    9th Annual Say No To Drugs Holiday Classic 10K/5K Race

    Universal Studios Backlot. Run With Us Elite Team swept the 10k, taking all top three spots! Great performance from Jacques Sallberg, who won the 10k in a time 30:18.     Lexus Santa Monica 5000

    Torrey in 10k RaceGreat Races for our elite team as they finish in 5th, 7th, 8th, and 14th place in the 5k event. Coming in at a fast time of 14:53 was Kevin Chaves, who was also the first local runner, as the race was won by Haron Lagat from Santa Fe, NM. Following him was Alex Ramon in 15:04, Mike Thatcher in 15:12, and Danny Martinez in 15:55 (who won the Masters Race!).
