Training philosophy: There are two key elements to my training philosophy. The first is that I need to have confidence in the work that I am putting in, so that when it comes time to race I am confident in what I am able to do. The second is that it needs to stay enjoyable. I may struggle some days getting out to run, but on the whole, the process needs to remain enjoyable.
Favorite or go-to workout: The long run
What I like to eat/drink before a run: A plain bagel and a strawberry lemonade Nuun electrolyte tab
Favorite quote that inspires me: “You don’t become a runner by winning a morning workout. The only true way is to marshal the ferocity of your ambition over the course of many days, weeks, months, and (if you could finally come to accept it” years; The trial of miles; miles of trials. ” John L. Parker in Once a Runner
Why I run: This list could go on for a pretty long time, but I will leave it to just three main reasons. I run to give glory to God- anything that I may achieve is because I have been blessed to be able to do so. I run because of the incredible bonds that you create with people by sharing a run. I run because of the peace that I get from being outdoors in any environment and pushing my body to a different place.
Where to find me when I’m not running: You can find me coaching cross country/track and field at Biola University, taking soil samples all around Southern California, or partaking in some outdoor activity with my wife Carly, and our two pups.
