Birthdate: 09-17-1990

Favorite shoe: Asics Nimbus

Favorite distance to race: My favorite distance to race would have to be a 10k on the road. However, I just completed my first 15k a couple months ago and I have to say, I absolutely loved it! I find that the longer the race is, the more I tend to enjoy it and do better.

Favorite place to run: I love running the trails over by Mt.Sac College in Walnut. It can be challenging, but the scenery makes up for it.

Favorite post-race meal: Pizza! I can probably eat pizza everyday and never get tired of it. However, I must have lots of red peppers on my pizza!

Training philosophy: I believe that training should be challenging yet fun and enjoyable as well. I set realistic goals for myself and usually focus on working towards achieving them. I know that training takes hard work and determination but when it comes to race time that’s when all the fun happens.

Favorite or go-to workout: I enjoy doing fartleks. I feel they are a stress free workout that helps to improve my mental strength and stamina. I don’t necessarily have to worry about hitting a specific time pace either.

What I like eat/drink before a run: I have to have my coffee! I also have either a bagel or some toast with honey before as well. I try and keep my meal light before I head out on a run.

Favorite quote that inspires you: I have a Bible Verse that always reassures me everything is going to be okay – I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me Philippians 4:13

Why I run: I run because I love the feeling it brings me. It’s a passion and something I enjoy doing. Running for me involves my mind and emotions just as much as it involves the physical side of me. Like others, I have had my share of downfalls during life but I feel running has helped me overcome those hard times. To me running is about constantly teaching me more about who I am.

Where to find me when I’m not running: Either working on homework or studying for my Teacher’s Credentials. If I am not at school and have some time off I usually spend it chasing around my dog (Logan)  and taking adventure walks with him around the neighborhood. He is my favorite thing in this world!

Personal bests:

  • Some of my best performances include racing at the 2014 Stanford Invitational where I ran a huge PR of 33:49 in the 10k.
  • Some others include racing the 5k at the Mt. Sac Relays during 2014 and also setting a big PR of 16:28
  • Some others to mention include: 2014 at the Occidental Invite I ran the 1500 meter race in 4:29

Other tidbits: I am a huge sports fan! Baseball is my favorite sport to watch. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are my team and Mike Trout is my man! I tend to surprise others with how much knowledge I know about professional sports. I enjoy rooting for the Boston Celtics basketball team  as well.  Usually when I am not busy I try and attend as much sporting events as I can.
