RWU Ultra Team
Our UltraRunning Team is comprised of a group of friends training and
racing together. There is an amazing camaraderie in the ultrarunning
community and amongst our team, this is especially true. During our
training runs we encourage and challenge one another to become better
trail runners, sharing advice, experiences, and war stories.

RWU Ultra team at the San Juan Trail 50K
Run With Us Ultra team members Jack Cheng, Carmela Layson, Dina Aman and Anibal Corsi participated in the San Juan Trail 50K this past Saturday March 5th, 2011. Cheng came in 5:39 10th overall, Corsi in 6:57 hr. Men and Women first place were for Dean Dobberteen with 4:37:36 and Michelle Barton in 5:18:25
"Indeed, San Juan Trail 50K has a nice and tough course with an elevation change of 6,625 feet and trails that go from the smooth and shaded single to the rocky and steep exposed hot climb. Compared to Mt D. at 6,100 ft in elevation change, SJT50K is more fun and a "must-do" for the . I felt dehydrated pass mile 22 and cramped all the way to the end but I survived. Heck! This is why we do it, right!. My newer Adidas trail shoes sucked. They gave me blisters from the beginning, and I felt every sharp rock I stepped on. The knee-level creek was unexpected but fun. It helped cool my ankles. Although it also made me stop twice for 5 min. to dry my insoles. At the end, it was all worthy." Fantastic video of the whole run taken by Lauren Miertschin to document her first ever 50K finish (7 minutes 41 seconds long). Her detailed recap - the suffering, agony & triumph is at: http://laurenontherun.blogspot.com/2011/03/big-baz-san-juan-50kfinisher.html So.Cal Ultra runners Grand Prix Series3rd Place Finish for Ben GaetosCongratulations!
Results for January: Ultra TeamRed Rock 40 in Santa BarbaraNovember 27, 2010Red Rock 40 was cold, tough and spectacularly beautiful. First 29F - 60F, then some rain in the evening. I used a flashlight & rain gear in the last hour. As their webpage puts it: "This run is extremely difficult and is best suited for the expert trail runner or experienced ultra marathon runner." First place came in 6:55 hr. Flaco placed 3rd in his age division w/ 8:47 hrs. I finished in 11:37 hrs, placed 55 out of 100 runners. I thought I could do 10 hrs, but this course is as spectacular and beautiful as it is humbling. 2010 Saddleback Marathon
