Did you run in high school and/or college?
I ran in High School and College and for a little while after. I’m hoping to build back up to competing again.
When & how & why did you get in to the sport of running?
Outside of the escape it provided. I’ve always loved running it was something we did often growing up. I started playing school sports my 8th grade year and during volleyball conditioning the track coach had been watching, she eventually introduced herself and told me to come out once the season was over. After experiencing that first season and winning the mile during our city championships I knew this was what I wanted to do, she ended up being my track coach at the High School level so it made it easy to transition. Ironically the same situation introduced me to my XC coach and I was introduced to a whole new world of running and community. The more I learned about running, competing, and I started really to understand how running would allow me to have the opportunity to meet and compete with runners all over the world.
Do you have a favorite moment that stands out in your running career?
Placing 3rd in our Regional XC meet to allow me to be the first person from my High school to qualify for a State XC meet in 15 years.
Winning the DMR running the 800m leg in college during our MEAC Conference meet to help clinch the Indoor MEAC Championship Title.
Any personal records we should know about?
800m; 1:53
1600: 4:19
5k: 15:45
In competition, what is or was your favorite distance?
I preferred the 800m & Mile
Road, Track, Trails, Treadmill, Couch?
Track, Trail, Road are my go to’s. Treadmills if needed. Everybody loves the couch.
What do you enjoy most about the sport or your own running?
Running was always the go to when I need to get away or just clear my head, I looked forward to practice because it gave me time to think and work through things mentally. I feel like there is a consistent challenge that you are with yourself while you are running/ training and it mirrors things we experience in the real world, the more we push ourselves that confidence builds into other aspects of our lives and it encourages people to push themselves towards their goals or things they thought not possible. Racing gives me the chance to push myself and my limits, it’s exhilarating. It’s demanding but the rewards are much sweeter.
Since working at Run With Us, what has been your favorite aspect of the job?
Meeting and being able to be add to such a large running community. Learning more from different people through daily interactions while also being able to share knowledge and experience with other athletes and runners that help them improve or have an overall impact on their experience.
What has been your favorite running shoe of all-time? What is your favorite shoe currently?
My favorite running was the Nike Vomero until I was introduced to the Hoka brand and I switched over to the Clifton Edge & Rincon. Now that I’m getting back into running I’m sure a new shoe awaits!
